Wham! by Carol Marrs Phipps
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Set in a world poisoned and strictly monitored, this is a work of absolute imagination. Yes, there are fairies, elves and trolls (and other strange creatures) but not as you think you know them. High-tech and magic stand side by side here, and it works, an urban fantasy that is also epic, dystopian, and much more.
I loved the added languages! And the ingenuity amid the characters is riveting. As reader, you experience a range of emotions, from despair to hope, anger to celebration (and sometimes you wish you could climb into the story to smack someone around a bit) and then you wonder how will it all possibly work out? The fact that I am left wondering about what comes next, proves this is a story worth reading! I want to find out!
Well done to the authors. This is imaginative and original. Despite a few edit errors I stumbled over, WHAM! deserves your attention – you will be glued to the pages …enjoy!

Review: ORIGIN by Bianca Pheasant
Kyndra is a broken woman, forced into a life of
prostitution. There is no hope, no chance at happiness or a future worth living
for. Men abuse her and death has been close. Then she meets Ludwig, and her
life is set to change, but this isn’t your usual story – this isn’t a ‘Pretty
Woman’ scenario, not by a long shot. Revenge comes first, then love …
Bianca Pheasant offers a well-constructed tale of a broken
woman standing up again, and I lapped it up! Loved the twist of a survivalist
shelter, a masked ball with nefarious intent, an old chauffeur doubling as
guardian, a little boy who makes life worth living, and applauded the
sisterhood of the women on the streets.
I can’t wait to read the next book!

Short, but brilliant. A little brutal, but this is a 'just desserts' tale I definitely enjoyed.

Review: Ring of Eman Vath by Hal Emerson
The Ring of Eman Vath by Hal Emerson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
A most fulfilling read! A variety of characters populate this tale and I knew connections would be made as it progressed, and the author didn’t disappoint on that score. Add to that a mysterious ring, loads of magic, many battles at sea and on land, and I could not stop reading. Satisfying indeed!
