Review: Lessons Learned Cleaning The Floor by Gratitude Girl

It is true that when we are engaged in menial tasks, such as washing dishes, our thoughts tend to roam. Usually our thoughts are about other tasks that need attending to or about our kids, even reminding ourselves to feed our furry children. Sometimes our thoughts move to wishes and dreams, the what-if, or we look ahead to an expected event.

Now, imagine washing the floor, a bleh task. It takes a chunk of time and therefore our thoughts are elsewhere for a fair period. Imagine opening up to the messages of love surrounding us all the time, messages we are often oblivious to. Imagine listening to those messages … and then understanding they are in fact lessons about ourselves.

This book is exactly that. Lessons about self. Who we are, where we fit in, how we are able to empower ourselves, and what makes us, each and every one of us, so special. It’s so easy to achieve awareness and yet we tend to remain oblivious; this book will give wings to your musings while washing the floor and lead you to knowing and believing that you are LOVE.

I was literally floored (ha!) and then I soared! I. Am. Love.

For our souls - an excellent book

I would like to share something with you. Recently I was in frightened state of mind and a friend suggested I read this ...

I was blown away by how much this helped me. I feel stronger and more able to cope, because I now better understand how we function as humans, and I have discovered some pertinent advice about how to look at matters and how to protect myself when the way becomes a little dark.

Usually I don't bother much with 'self-help' books (there are exceptions, of course!) but this isn't so much about self-help as it is about understanding. We are ever seeking energy as souls in order to function and this tells us how it works and how we deal with it.

An eye-opener indeed! A soul opener, actually!

My review posted on Amazon, because I wanted to tell other potential readers to have a look. This book deserves it!

We all have our issues and most of us are afraid to confront them. Whether we are into new age stuff or belong to a formal religion, whether we profess no belief or every belief, we all have our issues.

This book opened my eyes. Not only does it discuss in a logical and readable way the spirit world and the beings inhabiting it, but it’s also to the point about those issues we struggle to deal with. The author logically explains how we are all connected, how we create both our negative and positive environments and inner selves, following it up with practical solutions and advice. This aids our relationships with our spouses, our children and others, explaining how our souls require energy in order to function. Often this energy is negative and we need to teach ourselves how to project and accept only positive energy.

What I took away from this was awareness. I now better understand myself and those around me. I also took away that love heals all, if only we will allow it to.

You need to read this. Please read this. We do not all believe the same, and yet there is so much common ground here, for we are all human and all of us need love in our lives. You do need to read this. Go on, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Justine's Journal #3

52 Weeks 500 Words

This is how it began: Justine (not her real name) decided to write 500 words (or as near as), anything goes, per week for 52 weeks. She would then submit it for anonymous posting, via me, her friend. Perhaps a pattern will emerge from her words, but at this stage it’s more an experiment I have agreed to share in. I’ll attempt to draw conclusions at the end of this. Stay tuned if this resonates with you.

Week 3

'I promised you Music. We all have our tastes, some intense dislikes and some great favourites. Whatever it is for you, we all identify with music. It speaks to our souls. It reveals our inner selves. It makes the world go round. It can make the world dance!

Personally I get very irritated by jazz. I cannot stand the looping sound. When it plays in the background in, say, a restaurant, I get agitated and the meal becomes a chore, can’t wait to get out. This is not to say all jazz is bad, for there are a few exceptions to actually make me nod a bit, so regard my statements as generalisations. Always, as in everything in life, there are exceptions.

My big love, musically, is movie soundtracks and a close second is classical. In this, my writing buddy Elaina and I are very much alike. You might infer I speak of ‘classical’ soundtracks, and you will be right. The evocative stuff. You want me to name a few? Let’s see – Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven to name but a few. Anything composed by Hans Zimmer (Elaina put me onto Mr Zimmer), Howard Shore, John Williams and so forth. Evocative, emotional, atmospheric. These are the tracks I listen to while in editing mode. And that would include Mozart, Barber, Albonini, in the more classical vein. Not all classical is good, though, don’t get me wrong. You get dark stuff, crazy and chaotic stuff that can totally drive me insane. So I’m picky. (I hear my writer friend laughing now … )

When writing new work I prefer silence, although really soft background music is all right. I prefer the sounds of nature when writing. Birdsong is the perfect music.

Now let me add that I have quite eclectic tastes in general music and a massive playlist of songs I do like, the ones that are not ‘classical’. I hesitate to say pop, because I despise that term, but it would be in the line I’m talking about. Hip Hop leaves me cold, as does rap. I can’t say metal engenders peace, but there are exceptions. Not for peace! Tracks that do resonate, especially the older stuff. Some of the blues is simply awesome, some downright irritating. It does therefore depend on mood, doesn't it?

Can a good piece of music entirely change my mood? Yes. Can it instill a new idea? Indeed. Can it aid in editing? Absolutely. Do I want silence all the time? No. It all depends on mood. Point made. And I believe it’s time to search out some new and fresh inspiration. And we’ll leave it here for now and return another time with something directly from my mind.'
