The dude in the mirror is trying to kill her!

Ivy moves into an overgrown cottage in the back of beyond two days before Christmas. She soon discovers that the old place keeps old secrets. The mirror above her mantlepiece is not what it seems. Ash and oil footsteps appear from nowhere, as does writing on a wall.

Is her refuge haunted? Ha, well, she’ll decorate the bejeezus out of it, overwhelm whatever it is with pretty baubles and blinking lights. Not everyone loves Christmas as much as she does, after all.

A good plan indeed … until Gabriel introduces himself.

Old houses certainly do keep old secrets.

Die ou in die spieël probeer haar doodmaak!

 Ivy trek twee dae voor Kersfees in 'n oor gegroeide kothuis in die agterkant van nêrens in.  Sy ontdek gou dat die ou plek ‘n geheime bewaar. Die spieël bo haar kaggel is nie wat dit soos lyk nie.  As en olie spore verskyn uit die niet, net soos skryfwerk op 'n muur.

 Is haar toevlugsoord spookagtig? Ha, wel, sy sal dit tot in die kleinste besonderhede versier, wat dit ook al is oorweldig met mooi snuisterye en flikkerende ligte. Almal is immers nie so lief vir Kersfees soos sy nie.

 'n Goeie plan inderdaad ... totdat Gabriël homself voorstel.

 Ou huise hou beslis geheime.

Tilio finds the perfect Christmas gift for her brother. Photography is his hobby, and so is collecting cameras, whether old or new.

 It seems, though, this camera is cursed.

 Christmas is upended. The moment he takes a snap of his happy family, everything changes for him, but not for them.

 Somehow, he must undo its terrible manipulation, or he will be lost.

These factors end up changing Ariel’s life.

Tilio vind die perfekte Kersgeskenk vir haar broer. Fotografie is sy stokperdjie, en so ook die versameling van kameras, hetsy oud of nuut.

 Dit lyk egter of hierdie kamera vervloek is.

 Kersfees is omvergewerp. Die oomblik toe Kasper 'n foto van sy gelukkige gesin neem, verander alles vir hom, maar nie vir hulle nie.

 Op een of ander manier moet hy sy verskriklike manipulasie ongedaan maak, of hy sal verlore wees.

Translating my Christmas stories!

There's three Christmas stories I'm trying to have translated into Afrikaans before December (Gabriel, The Photographer and Ariel's Christmas), of which Ariel is now done and live:

'n Sagte verhaal oor verlies ... en 'n kat.

 

Dit is Ariel se eerste Kersfees alleen en sy wil niks met feesvieringe te doen hê nie. Haar beste vriendin kry haar egter om 'n belofte te maak om 'n boom op te sit, 'n ou vrou gee haar raad, en op pad huis toe koop sy 'n paar Kersfees lekkernye en, op 'n ingewing, kat kos vir die rondloper katte rondom haar gebou.

 

Hierdie faktore verander Ariel se lewe.
