The Second Coming by Grant Leishman

The Second ComingThe Second Coming by Grant Leishman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I started reading this series the wrong way round, beginning with the end (something profound in that statement!) and coming back to start over. Having read the final book, and having enjoyed it, I wanted to find out how it all began. How did Jesus get to be here on Earth?

The action takes place in the Philippines and makes for interesting reading. It’s tongue-in-cheek irreverent at times, but also pretty serious at others. The camaraderie between the ‘disciples’ is heart-warming, and love plays a huge role. After all, a second coming is all about love, or it could never work.

Whether or not you believe in JC, this is an enjoyable read, a what-if scenario. If you fancy a trek through the wilder places, or simply seek to see the Philippines from a different perspective, this is a fit for you. I found it intriguing and some of the concepts, such as peace between religious groups, made me think. Beyond that, it is a thoroughly enjoyable tale!

Brilliant. Written in clear language, telling it like it is, this is brilliant. Every newbie writer MUST read this and the 'old hands' can certainly learn a trick or two as well. Cannot recommend it enough to writers! BEING INDIE deserves every one of these 5 stars!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An intriguing concept, and the story has potential. While the characters are well-rounded and believable, and this is an imaginative tale, it felt as if it was just getting started when it ended. I suspect the next book will wow even more and flesh the tale out further. Giving it 4 stars, because it did urge me to move to book 2.

Not Alone by Craig A. Falconer

Not AloneNot Alone by Craig A. Falconer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a long book, and thank heavens for that! This isn't a story you can tell in a few chapters. The question as to whether we are alone is well and truly answered here, and in such a way it all makes sense. I thoroughly enjoyed and applauded the author's investigations into the psyche of politicians and ordinary folk, as well as conspiracy theorists. If for no other reason than to discover how we would react to this knowledge, this is worth a read. As a story, though, it's excellent. Highly recommend you grab yourself a copy.
